Online, across Colorado
Autism Therapy for Adults in Colorado
You can stop translating yourself here.
I offer online therapy for autistic adults across Colorado, including Denver and Aurora. Maybe you've known for years, maybe you found out recently, or maybe you're just starting to wonder. Either way, you don't have to prove anything to me first.
I'm not here to make you less autistic. I'm here to help you work out what you need and how to ask for it.
Maybe this sounds familiar
- You replay conversations for hours, looking for the moment it went wrong.
- After a full day of being "on," there's nothing left for the evening. masking is work
- Certain sounds, textures, lights, or crowds hit harder than they seem to for everyone else. it counts
- You've gotten so good at adapting that people can't see what it costs.
- A change of plans can throw off your whole day, and it's hard to explain why.
- Burnout that a weekend off doesn't touch.
- A diagnosis that never quite fit, or years of being called difficult, sensitive, or too much.
None of this is a flaw to correct. A lot of it is what happens after years in places that weren't built with you in mind.
What working together looks like
I start by listening.
Part of the work is finding words for patterns and experiences that have been hard to describe. You shouldn't have to arrive with them already figured out.
We accommodate instead of fix.
We work out what you need, then practice asking for it. That includes giving yourself permission to have needs in the first place.
We look at the masking.
When you do it, what it has protected you from, and what it costs. Some of it you may want to keep. Some of it you may be ready to set down. That's your call.
You have a say in the pace.
We build a plan together and review it as things change. If something isn't working, tell me, and we'll adjust. There will also be some laughing.
Autism is rarely the only thing in the room
Culture, family, trauma, and years of holding it together all show up in the same life, so I don't keep them in separate boxes. Depending on what's going on for you, these might be worth a look:
Trauma Therapy
Years of being misread can leave a mark, and sometimes there's more to the story.
Anxiety & Depression Therapy
The bracing, the racing thoughts, and the heavy days.
Women's Therapy
Culture, family expectations, and the script that says you shouldn't need anything.
Questions people ask
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. Some people come to me while they're still figuring out whether autism fits, and others have known for years. We start with what you're experiencing.
What if I want an assessment?
I don't provide assessments myself, but I work with a network of trusted providers who do, and I can connect you. If a past diagnosis never quite fit, we can talk through what did and didn't.
Are sessions in person or online?
Online only, for adults who live in Colorado. You join from your own space, set up however works for you.
Will you try to make me less autistic?
No. I don't see autism as a problem to eliminate. We work on what's hard, like exhaustion, overwhelm, relationships, and boundaries, and on getting what you need. We're not working on performing "normal" better.
What if therapy has gone badly for me before?
I'm sorry it did. I'd like to hear what happened, so I know where trust has been hard to rebuild and what doesn't help. We'll keep checking in from session to session so we can adjust. And if it becomes clear I'm not the right fit, I'll help you find someone who is.
I'm in-network with Kaiser Permanente and several other plans. For Medicaid, Colorado Access is the only plan I accept. Insurance & Payment
Tell me what's been hard
A few sentences is plenty. Tell me what you're looking for, and mention your insurance if you have it. If you're not sure autism is part of the picture, say that too.
